NATIONAL RESOURCE CENTRE FOR DANCE (NRCD)
- Description
- The Centre was established in 1982 with initial funding from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to provide support services for dance research and education and as part of a major development in dance studies at the University of Surrey and throughout the UK. The National Resource Centre for Dance is the sole national archive for dance and movement in the UK. The NRCD’s 36 special collections and substantial core collection contain a variety of materials, including film/video, sound recordings, personal papers, photographs, books, periodicals, artwork, notation/music scores, programmes, posters, cuttings, and other ephemera. The special collections represent the life and work of dance companies, organisations, choreographers, movement theorists, educationalists, and critics. The Centre also provides a publishing programme, short courses, a summer school, and an information and bibliographic service.
