NATIONAL ARMY MUSEUM

Description
The Museum has acquired film on a piecemeal basis since the 1960s but has recently begun to collect more actively, particularly amateur footage of the British and Indian armies in the 1930s and 1940s. The films show almost every aspect of army life at that time, including the introduction of mechanisation, training, engineering work, social life, and sports. In some cases they carry a soundtrack added by the original cameraman when the film was copied. Film collections of the Middlesex Regiment and Women’s Royal Army Corps museums have recently been acquired, as have a number of Ministry of Defence recruiting and information films.
