LONDON’S TRANSPORT MUSEUM
- Description
- The collection includes films and videos made for/by London’s public transport companies and their predecessors for a general audience and covering many aspects of London life, plus some more specialist training and instructional films. The earliest film is a Metropolitan Railway production of 1905. There are silent films of the 1920s and 1930s but the bulk of the collection today dates from the post Second World War era up to the late 1960s - the heyday of Edgar Anstey’s British Transport Films which are typically informative quality productions rich in social history and ‘behind the scenes’ detail. The Museum also holds for reference only a small selection of relevant off-air current affairs programmes, etc, and video copies of feature films featuring London Transport subjects.
