UNIVERSITY OF THE ARTS LONDON - CENTRAL ST MARTIN’S COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN, MUSEUM AND STUDY COLLECTION
- Description
- Film, video and photography have become core media for artists and designers and are integrated into our fine art and graphic design courses and research.
Central Saint Martins has both contemporary and historical collections of works of art and design. Works for our contemporary collection are purchased from graduating students across the college at the degree shows or donated by alumni. The works in the collection are on permanent display in the public and working spaces around the college.
We have a number of historical collections which are available for research and study purposes. These include the Museum and Contemporary Collection which has its roots in the Teaching Examples Collection established by the first Principal of the Central School, WR Lethaby, in 1896. The other major teaching collection is the Central Lettering Record, a typographical archive, which is used in the teaching of graphic design students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. - Website
