Description
The sound collection began back in the 1940s and consists of many kinds of recorded material (1900-2005). There are over 10,000 discs and tapes including almost 5,000 original 78s in fine condition. Thousands of examples of 20th century music include popular tunes, jazz, light orchestral, classical and documentary material. USA 33 1/3 RPM radio transcription discs include popular vocalists, dance music, comedy stars and dramatic programmes.

Charges
Rate sheets are available. Charges for research, viewing, VHS transfers, etc are dependent on time taken. Licence or access fees are dependent on client’s usage and status of copyright.
Copyright
Where copyright control is known to exist, rights must be cleared and royalty charges paid by the production company prior to use. Assistance will be given to identify current owners of rights if known.

Moving Image, Audio and Related Documentation Holdings

Masters
Shellac and vinyl discs, CD/CDR, 1/4-inch two track and casette tapes. Transcrption equipment, multi-sized styli and equalisation gear produce CDRs for dubbing. Clients own recordings can be transferred.
Sound
The Sound Collection: Forty original 16" 33 1/3rd radio transcription discs are held as part of this privately owned archive collection. They include mainly American World War II star comedy and drama shows, dance music, vocalists, classical material and a later Civil Defence show-biz celebrity spot disc. Condition of discs is variable. Other Sound Recordings and Background to the Collection: The record collection began back in the 1940s and consists of many kinds of recorded material (1900-2000). There are more than 7,000 discs, including over 4,000 original 78s in fine condition. These include thousands of examples of musical styles of the 20th Century, including popular tunes, jazz, light orchestral plus documentary material.
