kmfm 106, owned by the Kent Messenger Group, broadcasts on 106FM from studios in Canterbury city centre. There’s a mix of music, news and entertainment specifically tailored to the needs of our local potential audience of 118,000 people.

The station began serving listeners in Canterbury, Whitstable and Herne Bay in September 1997 as 106CTFM

Today the renamed kmfm 106 boasts "The Best Music Variety", a round-the-clock diet of great songs from the last four decades, featuring artists such as Simply Red, The Corrs, Robbie Williams, Lighthouse Family, Tina Turner and Shania Twain.

But it’s not all about music. With the Kent Messenger Group’s massive newsgathering operation behind it, kmfm 106 is the area’s fastest source of local news and information, with its finger on the pulse of everything that happens in East Kent.

KMFM-106 has built a large and loyal audience by offering a "Purely Local" service. The warm and friendly presenters live in the area and many local people regularly call in to the station or take part in our daily competitions. kmfm 106 is at the heart of the community.
