Description
Film Images was established in 1990 as a comprehensive film and video resource for organisations requiring clips and stock shots for all kinds of productions. It now manages film collections from both America and Europe. It represents the material on behalf of collectors of remarkable, interesting or weird films (whether just one special film or a life-time’s work), creating viewing copies for the Library, distributing them to Film Images’ International Network of offices and indexing films on its fully searchable database. Holds thousands of hours of historical footage from Europe, the USA and Africa: all formats from 16mm/35mm OCN to DigiBeta. Early cinema and actuality, newsreels, educational and instructional films, industrial films, features, commercials, music performance, cartoons, comedies and amateur films. Important collections are: COI Footage File (see separate entry), Film Archives (USA), Historic Films (USA), Lobster Films (France), and the Overseas Film and TV Centre (Africa). There are also thousands of hours of contemporary footage: 90% originates from film, transferred to intermediate video formats. Stock shots of business, locations and science. Contemporary collections are Fast Images (USA), Central Order (Germany), Network Espana (Spain) and Wish You Were here (USA).
