BBC launches HD Sound
Published: 26 October 2010In November the BBC will launch two new high-definition services.
BBC Radio 3 will be available through its website in HD Sound, an extra high quality audio stream, and special events on other networks will also be offered in extra high quality audio, beginning with the Electric Proms on BBC Radio 2 later this month. BBC One will also be broadcast in HD from 3 November via the new BBC One HD channel, across digital terrestrial television, cable and satellite platforms Freesat, Freeview, Sky and Virgin Media. The channel will show exactly the same programmes as BBC One in standard definition, but the programmes will either have been made in HD or upscaled to provide a better quality picture.
