RSC Shakespeare on Screen

To mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death throughout January 2016 the Barbican cinema, London is screening a season of Shakespeare on film and television performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company.  Performances include  Ian McKellen as Macbeth, Vanessa Redgrave as Rosalind and Peter Hall’s 1965 production of The Wars of the Roses.

The films are curated and introduced by John Wyver. There is also a panel discussion, chaired by Judith Buchanan, with RSC artistic director Gregory Doran, and other guests, to explore a wide range of questions about the RSC’s involvement with film and television and the challenges of translating stage productions to the screen.

Further details on the Barbican website.
