Recent additions to the Gateway

The BUFVC Moving Image Gateway includes over 1,000 websites relating to video, multimedia and sound materials. These have been subdivided into over 40 subject areas. To suggest new entries or amendments, please contact us by email or telephone.

American Society of Cinematographers
The ASC’s website contains a blog about recent publications and events, as well as a section devoted to the Society’s publication American Cinematographer. This contains details on the content of current and previous issues of the journal, as well as video podcasts of cinematographers talking about specific production aspects of films they have worked on.

Animate Projects
This website provides an online exhibition space where you can explore the Animate Collection, featuring new and historic experimental animation, artist interviews and critical writing. An extensive range of films are streamed, either in full or as extracts.

Co-operative British Youth Film Academy
The BYFA provides film and media students with a link to the commercial film industry by offering professional standard training and vocational experience on a feature film. Of the films that have been produced so far, several have been shown at festivals and won awards. Extracts from these are streamed on the website.

Patrick Clair
A designer and director specialising in infographics and visual storytelling, Clair’s website showcases the very stylish, short, explanatory animations he has produced on topics including carbon emissions from computer use, the Stuxnet computer virus, and the many facets of Google.

WORLDbytes
An online Citizen TV channel set up and run by the education charity WORLDwrite which promotes excellence in citizen reporting by providing volunteer learners with free training that combines practical film making with tackling challenging issues. Videos produced in the training courses are streamed on the WORLDbytes channel, arranged under headings including Civil Liberties, Debates, Democracy, Economy, International, Making History, Science & Progress, Social Change and Spoofs.
