Lords investigate investigative journalism
Published: 26 October 2011The House of Lords Communications Committee is currently conducting an enquiry into the future of investigative journalism, against the background of economic and technological changes in the media sector and the extent to which recent events have thrown investigative journalism into the spotlight. Written evidence has already been published and oral evidence from print and broadcast journalists, editors and academics is currently being taken. These sessions, held on Tuesday afternoons, are broadcast live on Parliament TV and then made available for on-demand viewing in the channel’s archive. Uncorrected written transcripts of the oral evidence are also available. So far, evidence has been taken from Reuters, John Mair of Coventry University, Private Eye, The Guardian, Channel 4, Panorama, ITV, Roger Bolton, Roger Graef, Facebook, Professor Jon Crowcroft of Cambridge University, and Newsnight as well as individual reporters.
