New Exceptions to Copyright – explained!

The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) has published a handy guide to the new Exceptions to Copyright, which yesterday entered into law.

They include coverage of:

  • Text and data mining for non-commercial research
  • Criticism, review and reporting current events
  • Exceptions for Teaching
  • Helping disabled people
  • Time-shifting
  • Personal copying for private use
  • Parody, caricature and pastiche
  • Sufficient acknowledgment
  • Fair dealing
