Shakespeare Journal: special RSC anniversary issue

Shakespeare JournalOn 20 March 1961 it was announced that the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon would become known as the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and its company as the Royal Shakespeare Company. 2011 will mark the 50th Anniversary of this important moment in the history of the RSC and their main Stratford theatre.

To mark this occasion the journal Shakespeare is planning a special issue dedicated to the RSC and its 50-year history, for which it invites critical essays, including on the RSC and the teaching of Shakespeare (10,000 words maximum). Potential contributors should submit their essays by 15 October 2011 via the journal’s website, where details about the presentation and referencing of  essays can also be found.

For details on inhouse stage recordings (audio and video) of notable RSC productions in the last five decades, browse BUFVC’s International Database of Shakespeare on Film, Television and Radio.
